Mahindra and Mahindra garnered substantial attention at their recent event in Cape Town, South Africa, held on August 15th. During this occasion, the company introduced a trio of impressive offerings – Thar.e, Scorpio N Pik Up, and the lightweight OJA tractors. Alongside these unveilings, Mahindra also disclosed the official launch schedule for their upcoming quartet of electric SUVs: XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, and BE.07. The BE.05, which had been unveiled as a concept in London last year on Independence Day, emerged as a key point of interest.
Having been sighted undergoing testing on Indian roads earlier in the year, the excitement surrounding the imminent launch of the BE.05 has been steadily growing. Enthusiasts can eagerly anticipate its market debut, slated for October 2025.
The BE.05 model showcased at the recent event showcased a striking feature that immediately captured attention – an expansive panoramic glass roof. Although specific details about whether the roof is designed to be operable or fixed are yet to be revealed, its presence promises an exceptional driving experience.
The vehicle’s design also spotlights a meticulously sculpted bonnet, enhancing its visual appeal. Towards the rear, the focus is drawn to a captivating roof-mounted split spoiler that commands attention, accompanied by an alluring tailgate adorned with a vibrant LED lightbar.
The images revealed also offer a sneak peek into the interior of the BE.05. The cabin boasts an encompassing design, housing dual screens – one dedicated to the infotainment system, while the other functions as the instrument cluster. This arrangement not only ensures a contemporary driving experience but also underscores the delivery of pertinent information to the driver.
Mahindra’s BE.05 electric SUV stands out with its distinctive C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). The vehicle’s aesthetics are further enhanced with updated front and rear bumpers, as well as the inclusion of multi-spoke alloy wheels.
Built on Mahindra’s INGLO platform, prospective BE.05 buyers will have the choice between a 2WD (Two-Wheel Drive) or a 4WD (Four-Wheel Drive) configuration. The SUV will feature motors sourced from Volkswagen.
For the 2WD models, the rear motor will generate an impressive 283 bhp and 535Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 4WD variants will come equipped with an additional motor on the front axle, contributing an extra 108 bhp and 135 Nm of torque to the driving experience.
